Rohingya Society in Malaysia

Salamun Alaykom!

So yesterday I went to RSM (Rohingya Society in Malaysia) to meet their President, Dr Hamid and as well administrator Brother Abdul Ghani.

I've first met Brother Abdul Ghani last year in December. During the first meeting in December last year we were only to get the idea and pictures on the conditions and status of the refugees of Rohingya.

I was informed that currently in Malaysia there are about 30 thousand refugees came to Malaysia to get protection. And that figures given are only based on the refugees who came and registered under the organisation. RSM believe there are more refugees out there who did not register with RSM.

Just a brief introduction of the organization. Rohingya Society in Malaysia is an organization under UNCHR. It was set up to oversee the welfare of the refugees of Rohingya in Malaysia. It was set up in year 2010.

RSM at the same time receives help in terms of financial and facilities from NGO and as well as the Government of Malaysia.

Currently they are renting shop house in Lembah Maju, Ampang for both school and office subsidized by PERKIM.

Although with the financial support from few NGOs and the Government they are still lacking of many things.

We - Oummati, would like to see on possibilities on how could we do to ease their burden. The meeting yesterday went well and he have figure out few ideas on which way we can work with them to give them a helping hand, in Sha Allah.
